What kind of oil is poured into Renault Sandero at the factory. What kind of oil is poured into the Renault Sandero engine

09.08.2023 Transmission

Good afternoon. The topic of today's article is the replacement of engine oil in a Renault Sandero Stepway 1.6 engine (8 valves).
Traditionally for our site, the article contains a lot of photo and video materials and is a step-by-step instruction.
Good oil and skillful hands are the most important thing we need to change engine oil in a car ourselves.

Which engine oil to choose?

A prerequisite for the operation of any car is periodic maintenance. In order for the engine to be less prone to wear and work properly, it is necessary to periodically change the engine oil. Using a quality product will help minimize the formation of sludge and deposits on the drive elements.
A 1.6-liter 8-valve engine will require a little less than 4 liters of engine oil.
For Renault SANDERO STEPWAY, the manufacturer recommends using the following oils:

  • ELF Evolution SXR 5W30.

If you decide to choose engine oil of some other brand, then you must choose with similar viscosity characteristics.
A scheduled oil change should be carried out after 15 thousand km or after 12 months of operation, but in Russian conditions it is better to reduce the oil change interval to 10,000 km.
In addition, you must consider the operating conditions and your driving style. When the car is operating in difficult conditions, such as: off-road, city traffic, mountainous terrain, we change engine oil even more often - after 7-8 thousand km.

What do you need to change the oil in Renault Sandero?

  1. Oil.

2. Oil filter, article number - 7700274177.
Suitable options:

3. New drain plug with O-ring #11026 5505R.

4. Oil filter puller.

5. An 8mm square wrench to remove the drain plug.

6. Wrench for 10 to remove the factory protection.

7. Gloves to protect hands and work clothes.

8. Rags.

9. Container for waste oil.

Oil change procedure.

Step-by-step instructions for changing the oil in Renault Sandero:

1) We install the car on a flyover or above a viewing hole, turn off the engine, wait 3 minutes. If you preheat the engine, the oil will run off faster and more completely! Do not forget to warm up the engine to 70-80 degrees.
2) Open the hood and remove the oil filler cap.
3) We clean the oil pan around the drain plug from dirt.
4) Prepare containers for used oil.
5) Unscrew the drain plug with a 8mm square key.

5.1) If you decide to change the type of oil in your Renault Sandero, then you need to completely flush the system in the engine according to the following scheme:

  • Drain the used oil;
  • Fill flushing oil to a minimum;
  • We start the engine for 5 minutes;
  • Drain the flushing oil.

6) While the oil is draining, remove the filter, use a puller for this, it is firmly planted and extremely uncomfortable. You can unscrew it with your hands, but it's not worth it ... it's easier with a puller ....

Even if all the oil is drained, it will inevitably remain in the filter and spill, so when we remove it, it is better to use a rag.
7) After draining the oil, install sealing ring on the cork and twist the part with the “square” key by 8.
8) We put in place a new oil filter, after pouring a little oil into it (about 100-200 ml) and lubricating the sealing gum.

9) Fill with completely new oil. We check the level with the dipstick, optimally it should be in the middle of the dipstick.

10) Start the engine. If during this procedure the indicator that controls the level of pressure in the system goes out in the cabin, then you are on the right track.

11) We are waiting for 3 minutes. We check the motor for oil leaks, control the level on the dipstick and install the standard protection back.

Conclusion.

As you have seen, changing engine oil in Renault Sandero Stepway is not difficult. You can easily perform similar work on your own, spending 1.5-2 hours of your time, but significantly saving on car maintenance.

A long service life of your car will be ensured by regular oil changes when choosing high-quality and reliable materials.
That's all for today, I hope that the article on changing the oil in the Renault Sandero Stepway 1.6 engine was useful for you and fully answered your questions.
If you have any questions, write comments.

Actually...

Question: is it worth changing one type of oil to another, or is there something else to fill in?

Alex S 17-04-2014 12:28

The main thing is not to run into a leftist.
I rode an elf on basins, took it in a wholesale
firm on Polezhaevka.
At 150 I did MOT, the engine was
in great condition.
The bed is all clean, shone like a cat's balls
and compression is normal.

comrade Beria 17-04-2014 12:50

The Renochi have always ridden the Elf.
Do not worry, fill in what is flooded.

This is the question: which of the available options to choose - Excellium NF 5w40 or Evolution SXR 5w30?

RTDS 17-04-2014 12:57

In order not to bathe, it is necessary to fill in oil from those that are sold everywhere. For example, cheap Lukoil or Shell is more expensive, or Mobile is expensive - they are everywhere. But this is a fucking Elf - not everywhere at all.

I advise you to change the oil to another brand of similar in price, but running.
There are no technical problems of a "semi-mystical" nature, which garage mystics love to discuss so much, from changing the type of oil.

I used 5w30 synthetic all the time. sold after 5.5 years, with a mileage of almost 170 thousand everything is fine so far.
Hado poured oil from the second year.

this is for sure, but with 3v40 the flow rate was greater and did not tighten it even once before the cutoff for the test.
I buy in existential.

great motor. I always twisted it with tension (in the city 1.5-2.5 tons) and, unlike those who like to spin more, everything is normal.

The cork and filter are unscrewed, the oil is drained, after that you put a napkin in a couple of layers on the oil filler neck, pierce a hole in it and BLOW. Sharply, deeply and several times.

Imagine the action. Erotic
In such a situation (when changing the brand), I bought two sets of oil and filters and used the first set for a couple, three, five thousand, as a flush. Although I suspect that with similar oil parameters this is an extra action

The cork and filter are unscrewed, the oil is drained, after that you put a napkin in a couple of layers on the oil filler neck, pierce a hole in it and BLOW. Sharply, deeply and several times. After this, almost half a glass of oil flows out of the engine, which has already ceased to flow freely.
However, such an oral sex with a motor is completely optional.

Stupid mouth. How smart? Booty purge?

How will they write.
Isn't it easier to change the oil every 5-7 tkm and not be stupid at the neck with your mouth?
On Hanse what you just don’t read, what a tin)))

comrade Beria 17-04-2014 17:20

There is no desire to change the brand of oil. The question is rather about reviews about Excellium NF instead of Evolution SXR, and about compatibility ...
And as for these "sekas" with blowing - I always used a different method: I turned off the fuel pump fuse and removed the connector of the high-voltage ignition circuit, and then the starter scrolled the engine for a short time. Gram 250-300 oil residues could be drained.

John892 17-04-2014 17:37

on reviews about Excellium NF instead of Evolution SXR, well, and on compatibility ...

Compatible and normal separately. Tested on K7J

A little higher, John892 gave about the same data.
So I have already decided on oils, which I also indicated above. Which of the Elf 5w40 with class clearance will fall into a 4 liter canister - then I'll take it.

I have a k4md812 engine, it was 5/30 evolution filled. I changed synthetics to excelium 5/40, it works fine, and the canister is again 4 liters. And no engine flush. And by the way, office dealers recommend changing the oil after 7 and a half thousand.

comrade Beria 18-04-2014 14:12

Of.dillery recommend changing the oil after 7 and a half thousand.

Of course, they would only cut down the money for the service. Although 15 thousand kilometers are not so much for synthetics. 7 1/2 thousand - this is an indicator for a "mineral water" in a "Zhiguli" with a typical urban operation of the "start-stop" mode.

In Russia. The same motors in Europe go for 30 thousand km. Fuel in Europe is much worse - the consumption has always been much higher than on our fuel.

Olexa81 18-04-2014 14:57

Well, I don’t know how it is in Europe, but I don’t want to tempt fate. I change every 8-9k miles. Especially since mid-December (as Bosko repaired and changed the oil, respectively) dashed off 3058 km. At this rate, what about changing the oil every 2 years?

Well, as it says in the instructions - either 15 thousand kilometers, or a calendar year ... It depends on what comes first.
Although I know people whose mileage is unstable (sometimes 3000 in a month, then 5000 in a year) and they change the oil "as it is" - as it darkens or starts to thin out.

comrade Beria 18-04-2014 16:25

Oil pressure gauge with arrow (pressure gauge). It is found on some older cars. A cool thing, by the way ... Not like the current LED rulers with an oil level
So, if the pressure does not rise above a certain value during cold start, and when the engine is warmed up at idle, the pressure also does not exceed a certain threshold, then it's time to buy an oil canister and a filter

Olexa81 18-04-2014 16:25

Yes, I do, twice a year, in spring and autumn. Although I have so on mileage and came out before. I wound 15-16 thousand a year. And now, in connection with the move, I drive even less a day, on average, 10 km, and a half km from home to work. Well, he went for his wife. Blah, in general, you need to buy a lisaped, the wife is on maternity leave, more gasoline is spent on heating.

howk 18-04-2014 17:00

Damn, think again, which is better - blow or suck)))

It seems that in the states they are sucked off with a nokoy installation through the pipe of the measuring probe, so yes. Occurs. I don’t know about the chemical wash, I just know what they do. I did not bother, the old one was poured into the new one.

"... In itself, elf oil is not bad. But like any European oil, it has a requirement to make 10% of the oil from waste. That is, 10% of it is immediately half-decomposed, so in Europe they care about nature. Why do you need this?
I used to prefer Esso semi-synthetics, but they have gone bad. Apparently, they quarreled with the SC group and began to take the base oil (base) not from them.

There are Koreans (ZIC) - they have an excellent base - both mineral and hydrocracking, pure, like a virgin's tear, without working off, on this basis a balanced range of oils for all tastes and climates.

There are Japanese from Nippon Oil - but their oil is rare in Russia.
For riders, there are options in the form of motul synth and techno synth...

As for flushes: if you bought a used car, the first thing you need to do is change ALL the fluids in it. At the same time, the oil in the engine must be changed with flushing, and it is better with flushing oil - to dump dirt. Replace filter.

Although, in principle, the use of flushing according to the condition of the oil filled in by the previous owner. If it is more or less clean, you can not wash it, just change it. In the future, if you use ZIC, you do not need to wash. It washes itself."

Well, it depends on the fuel. I don’t know how it is in the capital, but in Siberia gasoline is of disgusting quality. Therefore, it is also better to change more often.

Maxim V 18-04-2014 17:30

10 is fine. They tested the oil - and so - an ordinary p / blue - when working in a serviceable engine - completely exhausts its resource by a run of 22,000 km.
Oil manufacturers - in order to cover all possible "deviations" from the norm - have set a replacement interval of 15,000 km - just reinsuring themselves and according to winter operating conditions.
Therefore - for persons - "specific reinsurers" - an oil change in the winter period of operation after 10,000 km is a completely sufficient measure.

It all depends on the amount of oil. For example, on most modern trucks, the oil change interval is 100,000 km. And Scania changes the oil for the first time at 160,000 km. ..
And on KAMAZ - the usual "diesel" mineral water changes after 40,000 km.

I don’t care what kind of oil to pour, it was only good oil, and most importantly, of a suitable quality group. This is the second letter after S, and it will be 5-30 or 5-40 again. So 5-30 is positioned by automakers as if to save fuel. Type less loss in the engine Probably less.

Moreover, the engine we are talking about by design is not picky about the quality of the oil.
Another thing is highly accelerated small-volume turbocharged engines, where the criteria are higher.

Flushing in general, as I was convinced, is effective only when changing the unknown and hell knows how much used oil for something decent. And then, a special oil with high washing characteristics as a very temporary oil. There was a real case that when washing an old and very worn engine, contaminated with oil unknown in brand and service life, washing poured in in the amount of 3 liters (2x1.5 liter plastic bottle) came out in an amount of about 4 liters with black flakes and a terrible sediment. Further filling of a canister of normal oil radically changed the sound of the engine.

Exactly the opposite.
5w, 10w are designations for the lower limit of the temperature range (from w - winter, winter).
The letter w is followed by a number for the upper limit of the temperature range.
5w30 means that the allowable temperature limits will be approximately from -25 to +30.
5w40 means that the allowable temperature limits will also be from -25 to +45.

The infogram is slightly lying, it seems ...

Well, for gasoline, yes, the temperature practically doesn’t care - the main thing is the correct proportions with air.

Serial production of Renault Sandero started in 2007 after almost 2 years of development, but the presentation of the novelty itself took place only in 2008 at the Geneva Motor Show. The model was based on Renault Logan, which was popular at that time, from which the subcompact hatchback got the chassis, as well as Renault Scenic, from which Sandero borrowed some features of its design. The budget car came to Russia only in the spring of 2010.

Considering that Sandero was developed by analogy with the already mentioned Logan, technically it is also not very different from it. So, in percentage terms, the “new” repeats its older brother by almost 70%, I copy its entire line of engines and gearboxes. The main purpose of the release of another model was the desire of Renault to strengthen its position in emerging economies. The heart of the car was 1.4 and 1.6-liter gasoline power plants, into which different types of oil are poured (this will be discussed later). The base of the Sandero is considered to be an 8-valve 1.4-liter unit with 75 hp. in reserve. As for the modification from 1.6 liters, it is represented by 8- and 16-valve versions (84 and 102 hp, respectively). The choice of the buyer is offered three standard configurations: Prestige (maximum and most expensive), Authentic (budget option) and Expression (“golden mean”).

In order to prepare and adapt Sandero to the conditions of the Russian climate and roads as much as possible, this model additionally received protection for the engine tray and a cold start system.

In 2010, the manufacturer demonstrated an off-road version of the Sandero, which differed from the previous generation in massive wheel arches, decorative plastic sills and high ground clearance (plus 2 cm).

Timely maintenance is a prerequisite for the operation of any vehicle. In order for the engine to work properly and be less prone to wear, it is necessary to periodically change the engine oil. Thanks to the use of a quality product recommended by the manufacturer, it is possible to minimize or completely eliminate the possibility of carbon deposits and sludge formation on the drive elements.

It is quite possible to change the oil for a Renault Sandero Stepway on your own, without having a certain level of qualification. You just need to get acquainted with some of the nuances of this process. It is also important to know that if the car is still under warranty, then you should not think about changing the engine oil at all, since this procedure is carried out at the MOT station.

Oil change interval. In what cases and modes of operation should this interval be reduced?

The Stepway oil change period is 15,000 miles or every 12 months of operation, whichever comes first. However, due to different driving styles and vehicle operating conditions, engine oil change intervals can vary greatly.

So, in severe operating conditions, for example, in a metropolis, with constant driving off-road or mountainous terrain, with frequent trips with towing a trailer or at temperatures above 32 ° C, the engine oil and oil filter should be replaced every 7-8 thousand kilometers.

How to control the oil level yourself?

Checking the oil level in the Renault Sandero Stepway engine should be carried out on a flat horizontal platform, preferably on a cold engine, or after stopping it, wait at least 3 minutes.

Remove the dipstick, wipe it with a rag and insert it back until it stops.

Pulling the dipstick again, along the edge of the oil film between the marks - MIN * and MAX, you can easily determine the oil level. If it is between the indicated marks, everything is in order. The difference in oil volume between the MIN and MAX marks is approximately 1.5 liters.

If it becomes necessary to add oil, unscrew the oil filler cap counterclockwise and add the required amount of oil. This should be done slowly, adding oil in small portions. When adding oil, do not allow the oil level to rise above the MAX mark.

This is important: 1. Do not add another brand of oil; 2. E operating the vehicle with an oil level below the minimum allowable level can lead to costly repairs to the internal combustion engine.

Having filled in the oil, you need to wait at least 3 minutes for the oil to glass into the pan, and check its level again.

Upon completion of work, the oil level indicator must be installed back into the guide tube.

When the question arises of how much oil to fill in, then here you should start from which engine is installed in your Stepway.

If this is a 1.6-liter 16-valve internal combustion engine, then the required oil volume for it is 4.80 liters.

In an 8-valve engine with a volume of 1.6 liters - a little less than 4 liters

ELF Evolution SXR 5W40;

ELF Evolution SXR 5W30.

The article of the original oil filter is 7700274177.

Despite the fact that Renault recommends that ELF Evolution oil be poured into the Stepway, it is not at all necessary to use it. However, if you decide to give preference to some other brand, then you need to buy engine oil similar in characteristics. However, we still strongly recommend that you buy exactly the same replacement oil that was filled into the Stepway by the manufacturer.

Do not buy cheap oil of dubious origin. Counterfeits can cause irreparable damage to the car engine.

Stepway oil change

To change the oil yourself for a Renault Sandero Stepway, you will need:

Oil filter puller;

Key "square" 8 mm - for removing the drain plug;

New sealing ring.

Before changing the oil, it is necessary to prepare the keys and rags, as well as any container with a volume of at least 5 liters to drain the used oil into it.

Oil change must be carried out on a warm engine.

The standard engine protection is removed with a 10 mm key.

The drain plug is unscrewed with an 8 mm square key.

While the oil is draining into a previously prepared container, the filter can be removed with a puller.

Even after draining all the oil, a small part of it still remains in the filter, which will surely spill out, so it is better to use a rag when removing it.

Before installing a new filter, it is necessary to pour a little oil into it and lubricate the sealing gum.

After the drain plug is screwed in, you can fill in fresh oil. It is better to do this through a funnel, but you can do without it.

At the end of all work, the engine should be started and checked for leaks. It is also necessary to check the amount of oil on the dipstick.

That's all, good luck on the road!

Many owners of Renault Sandero 1.6 are interested in which of the proposed engine oils to fill in the power unit of the car. As professionals say, for Renault models it is used from the manufacturer Elf. This fluid is ideal for Renault. But keep in mind that OW, 10W-40 classes are more suitable. The use of oils of this viscosity does not increase consumption. We will answer the question - What engine oil for Renault Sandero Stepway 1.6 8 valves?

Required volume

The next question is how much is required for the Renault Sandero unit. This is determined by the type of engine in the car. For eight-valve 1.6 units, 3.5 liters will be required. You should also provide for a supply of engine oil.

According to the maintenance schedule, Sandero Stepway units are replaced after 15,000 km or annually. The service station masters and the automaker recommend the use of synthetic EE 5W30 and 40. When changing fluid in a car, filters are replaced. Other fluids are also used, but recommended by the automaker.

You can find out if the engine oil is suitable for the Renault Sandero Stepway model with a 1.6 engine using the RN0700 label. When it meets ACEA standards, it can be used for this car. Marking from A1 to A5. It is only necessary that it not be offered for use in difficult conditions.

Work order

Completely independent replacement is simple. The operation is performed in a special room with a pit, it is only necessary to prepare the materials.

The sequence of work is as follows:

  1. Remove the filter with a suitable tool
  2. Open the plug and drain the waste into the prepared container
  3. Then clean the filter and the surfaces of the parts
  4. The filter is being replaced, the plug is being installed
  5. Next, we make a replacement using a funnel
  6. It should not be small or, conversely, a lot
  7. Use a dipstick to check the level
  8. After assembly, start the engine

The choice of engine oil is made taking into account the advice of experts, as well as their experience. When replacing the fluid yourself, follow the requirements of the instructions. The quantity and quality of Renault oil needed to replace is determined by the engine size.

Automakers Renault - Nissan are included in the list of brands widely represented on the domestic market. Renault Sandero models are distinguished by attractive price and quality. Depending on the configuration, Sandero cars are classified as budget or middle class. Many users choose intermediate prices. This category includes Sandero and the crossover version of the Stepway. During operation, it becomes necessary to change the oil. This makes it possible to maintain the performance of the power unit and avoid various problems.

Lubricant selection

The question arises for car owners, which engine oil to fill in the Renault Sandero 1.6 unit. For the entire Renault line, the automaker recommends the same engine oils from Elf, which are recognized as optimal. With such oil, you will be sure that the car will not let you down in any traffic situation.

Oil viscosity

The viscosity of engine oil for Renault Sandero 1.6 depends on environmental conditions. Individual car owners are not satisfied with all-season, when drivers fill in different engine oil in winter and summer, and it must be drained twice a year. When the winter is not very severe, Renault owners choose all-weather.

A common mistake is saving on fluids. Many acquire compounds that do not have the necessary properties. With such engine oil, the unit is unpredictable and will not last until the next replacement. To maintain the performance of Renault Sandero engines, experts recommend observing a cycle and a certain replacement interval. Replacement dates should be fixed.

Timely maintenance is one of the main conditions for the successful operation of a car. In order for the unit to function efficiently and not be subject to wear, it is necessary to change the lubricant regularly. Thanks to the use of the recommended engine oil, the formation of carbon deposits on the drive elements can be eliminated. Replacement can be done independently, without having experience in car maintenance. It is only necessary to familiarize yourself with the nuances of the process. If Renault is still under warranty, you should contact the service station.

Level control

In the Renault Sandero 1.6 power unit, checking the lubricating fluid level must be carried out on a horizontal platform and with a cold unit. It is necessary to remove the dipstick, wipe it and insert it until it stops. By removing it again, you can find out the level. If it is between the maximum and minimum, then everything is in order. The interval between the marks is one and a half liters. Add engine oil, if necessary, in small portions.
