Razortovanie wheel disks. About wheel bolt pattern on domestic VAZ cars Bolt pattern of VAZ disks

16.07.2021 Ignition system

Any owner of a VAZ-2109 sooner or later has a question: what is the bolt pattern on the disks of their car? Usually they ask it at the moment when they begin to think about replacing these important wheel elements that ensure traffic safety and the image attractiveness of the vehicle.

In general, the concept of "bolt pattern" means the distance from the center of one mounting hole of the disc to another. For the most part, this parameter is the same for all products of the Volzhsky Automobile Plant, but in general no standard values have been developed. Therefore, the bolt holes on the hubs are not the same for different manufacturers.

Razorovka - dimensions

If you buy discs with a lower ET value, then the grip on the road surface will increase significantly, which means:

  • controllability will deteriorate;
  • fuel consumption will increase;
  • wheel bearing wear will accelerate.

Can I put 4 × 100 discs

This option can often be seen on the VAZ-2109. However, in reality, this decision is not correct.

The problem is that the standard bolt pattern of the model in question differs relatively slightly from the factory one. It seems to many that these couple of millimeters do not matter. However, a 4 × 100 disc cannot be properly secured with conventional bolts. There is a thickening (under the head) on them - it is this that does not allow the fasteners to be completely screwed in. Moreover, if you try to do it by force, you will most likely rip off the threads in the hub.

The engineering staff of any auto concern carefully calculates the compatibility and ability of the vehicle to take design loads for all systems. The car of the declared mass and dimensions must satisfy its technical specifications, dynamic and lifting parameters. One of the most critical parts is the wheel hub, which carries at least 25% of all constant, long-term and short-term loads that act on the car. This is how the wheel bolt pattern is born.

The bolt pattern is a calculated characteristic of the wheels, which determines the number of mounting holes and the diameter of the circle of their location. This characteristic is the same for almost all AvtoVAZ models and depends on the following vehicle parameters:

Wheels for VAZ 1111

  • The mass of the car in running order, that is, fully loaded, with passengers and the maximum possible weight of cargo in the trunk.
  • The nature of the operation of the vehicle, namely how important overloading is for this car... If we are talking about a city sedan, then a bolt pattern of 4 studs is quite enough for him, but a crossover or SUV is certainly equipped with 5 or 6 threaded rods, because off-road driving can briefly increase the load on the wheel several times.
  • The dynamic properties of the car. When entering a corner at high speed, as well as getting into holes, the shock effect increases the load on the hub studs exponentially.

Automotive engineers assign a bolt pattern based on the vehicle's ultimate load with the required safety factor.

Information about wheel bolt pattern on domestic VAZ cars

All VAZ cars from the very foundation of the plant to the present day had only 3 main types of bolt patterns, since most of the modifications were made on a single platform, they only changed their appearance. The bolt pattern for most Lada models looked like this:

  • The smallest representative of the auto concern - VAZ 1111, popularly called "Oka", was produced in the Russian Federation for 20 years - from 1987 to 2008. Considering that the mass of this very small class car was only 975 kg, and the load on the wheel was less than 250 kg, "Oka" became one of the few representatives in its class, for which a bolt pattern of 3 studs was used.

The final parameter was 3x98, with a diameter bore hole 58.1 mm. It was quite economical for the owners of the Oka.

Finding such a wheel dimension on the market was quite problematic, because stampings with radials R12 and R13 were often re-drilled in order to successfully sit on the hub.

Razboltovka VAZ 2107 4x98
  • The overwhelming majority of the models of the AvtoVAZ concern, ranging from 2101 and ending with Lada Priora or Kalina, were produced from the assembly line in the form of sedans, liftbacks, hatchbacks or station wagons of a compact or subcompact class.

On a note.

Wheel load and dynamic data Vehicle are very similar to each other.

Starting from 1966, when the concern released its first "kopeck", and ending in 2015, the wheel bolt pattern for these cars was 4x98 mm, the diameter of the central hole was 58.1 mm.

The most popular Lada models today, for which 4x98 bolt discs are still sold, are VAZ 2106, 2107, 2109, 2110, 2112, 2114.

  • The latest VAZ models, such as Vesta, Granta and X-Ray, produced since 2015, have wheel bolt patterns as close as possible to the international standard for compact cars. This parameter on the indicated modifications is 4x100.

However, this difference does not mean at all that the bolt pattern of 4x98 does not allow installing discs from "X-Ray" on older cars. On the contrary, all products are fully compatible, drivers may not even use spacer plates, since the nut can be screwed in until it stops and securely fixes the wheel.

  • Among all the products of the AvtoVAZ concern, such models as the VAZ 2121 or the classic Niva and all derivatives of this SUV have always stood apart: the 5-door Taiga, Chevrolet Niva and other models. Due to the increased loads on the hubs and wheels due to unsatisfactory road conditions, for which all the parameters of the "Niva" were designed, these compact all-terrain vehicles traditionally had a bolt pattern of 5x139.7 discs, with a central hole diameter of 98.5 mm.

These increased indicators allowed the wheel to freely resist the bending moment, perceive large loads when the center of gravity was shifted to one side when driving on an inclined plane or when the wheels were forced to hang, and also allowed the car to transfer more torque to the tire treads when driving uphill without the risk of parts breakage. ...

Wheels for VAZ 2114

Despite the scarcity of assortment in equipping vehicles and a small selection of cars of various classes, the plant has achieved maximum versatility in compatibility and the possibility of interchangeability of rims for cars produced in 2019 or 50 years ago.

Features of the dimension of wheels for the most popular VAZ models

Among several dozen VAZ modifications, the most popular models for all 50 years were only 2 of them, as can be judged by the number of copies sold. The dimensions of the rims for these cars had the following parameters, which changed depending on the year of manufacture, technical equipment and vehicle configuration:

  • VAZ is the last modification of the "classic", produced on the conveyors of the plant for 30 years: from 1982 to 2012. During this time, it never changed its appearance, and the bolt pattern of the discs was the same - 4x98 with a central hole diameter of 58.6 mm.

The rim width varied slightly depending on the model year.

If in 1982 the plant produced models with a landing dimension for tires in the range from 5J to 5.5J, then at the end of production the concern increased the permissible dimension to 6J.

The radiality of the wheels invariably varied from R13 to R15, which made it possible to alternate them according to the seasons, periodically changing the profile of the side part of the tire or immediately use all-season tires with a diameter of R14.

The tire size of the VAZ 2107 invariably amounted to only 3 main parameters - 175/70 / R13, 185/60 / R14 and 185/55 / R15. The last of the listed parameters was actively in demand among fans of fast driving on flat city roads.

On a note.

As for the R13 rubber, it allowed the driver to feel as comfortable as possible when driving on rough terrain, as well as in winter, when the high profile of the cord took part in adhesion to the road surface. But the most popular parameter remained the universal size R14, and the largest number of tires was sold in this dimension.

If we look at the earlier cars of the concern, we can be convinced that the wheelbase of the Zhiguli has remained practically unchanged for more than 40 years. This leads to the moral backwardness of the technical equipment of the plant's products. At the same time, the lack of new developments greatly reduces both the speed of release from the assembly line, as well as the cost of engineering equipment, which leads to a very attractive retail price of the vehicle.

  • VAZ 2114. Produced in a smaller range - from 2001 to 2013. The car was only a restyled modification of the classic "nine". The legacy of the outdated model did not affect the high popularity of this "Lada", and all the wheels that were installed on the hubs in the basic version had the same traditional bolt pattern 4x98, DIA 58.6 mm.

Euro standard bolt pattern 4x100 for Lada X-Ray
  • Like the bolt pattern of the VAZ 2114, the width of the rims did not differ much from the "seven" and ranged from 5J to 6J for the entire production period. As for the radiality, the concern completely excluded the 15-inch diameter from the factory equipment, without prohibiting the installation of this parameter by drivers as an option. The bolt pattern of VAZ 2114 discs in the current dimension also made it possible to install standard 4x100 discs in accordance with the usual dimensions for Europe.

Not a single Lada model has ever looked aggressive, the business card of the product was practicality and reliability during operation. The concern did not use extreme departure rates, and the wheels were always hidden under the body arches. The average limit values of ET for both VAZ 2107 and 2114 were ET25 ... 35 mm, and a deviation from this characteristic obliged drivers to arrange additional mud flaps on the side parts of the body and change the design of the hubs, making them more durable in order to avoid deformations.

The wheel bolts of the VAZ 2114, as well as all other dimensions of the hub and disks, were used on the followers of the brand - "Kalina" and "Priore". With the arrival of a new management in the domestic concern, the parameter ceased to exist altogether, since the plant acquired a new orientation towards the west and the possible import of products to the nearest CIS states.

Zhiguli wheel bolt compatibility table

Considering the above descriptions of the bolt pattern, they can be easily combined into one informative table, according to which every motorist who owns one or another Lada model will always be able to choose the right wheel parameters.

This table of correspondence of geometric characteristics to brands and modifications of domestic cars is given below:

Looseness wheel rims VAZ is a very important indicator of the model, which significantly limits the range of products offered for sale. If the driver suddenly likes a disc that has different characteristics, he will have to completely change the design of the hub and install the studs in a new order. Experts argue that this practice is fraught with unpredictable consequences during the operation of the vehicle.

For many motorists, changing the appearance of their "iron horse", giving it exclusivity, making it recognizable in the stream of other vehicles is a real dream.

But, as a rule, there is not enough money for serious changes, but installing new disks is a simple and quite affordable type of tuning.

But there is one problem - beginners lose sight of the bolt pattern of the wheel rims.

What it is?

Almost every brand (model) of car has its own disc bolt pattern. To designate a parameter, the abbreviation PCD is used, next to which numerical designations are indicated.

In simple words, the bolt pattern is the diameter along which the holes for the wheel attachment are made.

As a rule, motorists do not pay attention to this parameter and often go to the installation of discs with an inappropriate bolt pattern.

As a consequence, the wheel becomes wrong. It is difficult to visually identify the problem, but the consequences can be very dire.

Disc marking

When choosing a disc, it is worth considering not only its bolt pattern, but also a number of other key parameters.

Let's say you have a disk with parameters - 6.5Jx15 H2 5x100 ET45 d54.1... For an inexperienced car enthusiast, this is a common set of numbers. In fact, here is full information about the product:

  • 6.5 is the width (W), measured in inches (not centimeters, as many people think);
  • 15 is the diameter (D). Here, the unit of measurement is also inch;
  • 5 * 100 is a designation that indicates the number of landing bolts (5) and diameter (100).

Another example.

It is the diameter that interests us most (this is the PCD parameter, which we mentioned above).

PCD size is given in millimeters:

  • ET45 is a parameter by which you can judge about the departure of the disk. In fact, this is the distance between the plane that is pressed against the hub and the axis of symmetry of the product. ET45 means 45mm overhang.

  • d54.1 - indicates the diameter of the central hole (DIA, measured in millimeters). It has become fashionable among many manufacturers to overestimate this parameter.

In the future, special rings are used that exclude the appearance of vibrations.

As for the digital designations " J" and " H2", They are used only by specialists.

The first parameter gives information about the design features of the side flanges, and the second is a symbol for the annular protrusions on the rim (humps).

Measurement features

As we already mentioned, PCD is the diameter of the circle on which the special holes for fastening the wheel are located (we have already looked at the example with the disc marking).

So, we have a PCD parameter of 5 * 100. Everything is clear with the first number - it indicates the number of bolts used to secure the wheel.

As for the diameter of the circle, here you can use a simple calculation method.

Take a caliper and measure between the adjacent hole walls.

So, for each bolt pattern, its own calculation:

  • for three holes, the diameter is X * 1.55,
  • for four holes - X * 1.414,
  • for five holes - X * 1.701.

It is advisable to check the resulting number with the data in the special tables of the manufacturer. This will make sure the measurements are correct.

Please note that bolt pattern sizes are not indicated on standard steel discs - they are marked based on the internal factory code.

To clarify the parameters more precisely, you can contact your authorized dealer.

Many drivers have a question about how to find out the wheel bolt pattern.

Below are the parameters of popular car brands.

VAZ cars.

Fit features

The looseness of the wheel rims should be in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. What to do if by car PCD 100 * 4, but I really liked the disc with PCD 98 * 4? Experts recommend abandoning such a purchase.

But why, after all, it is impossible to visually determine the difference? The discrepancy will certainly manifest itself.

After fully tightening one of the bolts, the remaining holes move slightly to the side.

Of course, the bolts can be screwed on somehow, but due to the incomplete landing on the hub, you can not dream of a high-quality tightening (we will consider some ways out of the situation below).

Remember that mounting a disc with different bolt patterns is dangerous. A slight beating appears first. It may seem insignificant, but over time it leads to the destruction of the steering mechanism and the suspension of the vehicle.

It may be even worse - due to poor-quality broaching, the wheel is unscrewed in the process of movement and then an accident cannot be avoided.

Many motorists are interested in the question of what is the bolt pattern of wheel disks in domestic VAZ cars.

Here the PCD is standard - 4 * 98. But such a bolt pattern can be distinguished by one big drawback - there is no room for a flight of imagination and the possibility of choosing a more unique disc.

At the same time, "next door" is the PCD standard - 4 * 100, where the choice of disks is much wider. So can you risk a replacement? As we have already mentioned, this is unacceptable with standard tightening methods, because even a small error will not allow the screws to be tightened properly.

There are motorists who take risks. They use longer screws or do not tighten one of them at all. But this is dangerous - such methods can lead to serious consequences (including an accident).

But there is a way out.

To install 4 * 100 discs on VAZ cars, you can use special bolts with an offset center or eccentric (they can be easily found in car stores or on the Internet).

In addition, studs from a VAZ 2108 cylinder head type are often used.

The peculiarity of the installation is that the studs are screwed directly into the hub, and the disk is tightened with the help of other nuts (you can "borrow" it from Niva).

Another option is to bore a hole in the hub. In this case, it will be possible to put discs with different PCD bolt patterns - 4 * 100 or 4 * 98.

Conclusion

The looseness of the rims is an important parameter that should be taken into account when choosing. Remember that any PCD mismatch and installation errors are primarily a big risk to your life.

So, in an effort to decorate your car at any cost, weigh the pros and cons. It may be worth abandoning dangerous changes in favor of a different type of tuning.

When choosing rims, the owner should pay close attention not only to the diameter of the rim, its weight and design, but also to important technical parameters. One of the key parameters of wheel and vehicle compatibility is the bolt pattern.

This component is a value (a typical value for the overwhelming majority of VAZ cars is 4/98) that determines the number of mounting holes (the first indicator) and the diameter of the circumference of the distance between the holes (respectively, the second indicator).

Calculation of parameters

For a more accurate calculation of the compatibility of various types of wheels with different indicators and car models, there are special compatibility tables. For the correct choice of the indicator, the owner needs to know exactly the factory parameters.

Compatibility tables of various types contain information on most existing models (for VAZ cars, there are tables certified by the manufacturer).

Finding such tables is not difficult, there are a lot of compatibility tables on the Internet. Here is an example for domestic cars.

In the photo there is a bolt pattern of wheel disks compatibility table:

Several important parameters are indicated in these tables:

  • Departure disk(specific parameter for each model is individual), it is designated by letters (ET);
  • Looseness- PCD. The parameter is common for VAZ cars and is adopted as a single standard for front-wheel drive families as 4/98. Such an index is relevant for the vast majority of cars of the AvtoVAZ family (with the exception of sports modifications (Kalina NFR, where discs from French models are installed and the bolt pattern has different data);
  • Disc diameter- DIA. This parameter indicates the allowed value for the diameter. On VAZ cars, the maximum value for most models is 14 inches, but for several models this value is 1 inch more. The maximum diameter for 14 inches is VAZ 2114, 2115, 2113, 2110, 2111, 2112, that is, a line of cars,
  • Serial production of which is discontinued... The maximum value of 15 inches is typical for models - Kalina, Granta, Priora. For Vesta, Kalina NFR models, the maximum value is 16 and 17 inches, respectively.

On video bolt pattern of wheel disks:

Based on the value of the table for different models, the owner will be able to correlate the parameters of the new disc and the factory settings to select the product with the optimal value. In some cases, the bolt diameter is slightly larger than the factory bolt diameter.

In this case, special weights are hung on the discs to maintain optimal centering. However, this method soon loses its effectiveness and the disc begins to mechanically act with the hub, subsequently leading to breakdowns.

In the case of the tables from AvtoVAZ, the owners can trust the manufacturer's data, since the model undergoes many tests during the production and design process, the main thing is that these tables are officially presented from the Togliatti automobile concern.

Dull VAZ stamped discs are often hidden behind elaborate plastic caps. And for good reason. Each owner of a VAZ-2110 wants his car to stand out from the mass of gray and black dozen. One of the ways to improve the car's appearance is deservedly considered to be replacing the rims. Not many people think that in order to select a replacement disc, it is necessary to take into account not only the number of mounting holes. Today we will figure out the bolt pattern of the VAZ-2110 disks and select several options for a simple and bloodless replacement.

Each wheel, like a tire, has its own purpose and parameters. The most popular on our roads are steel stampings and alloy wheels.

The main parameters of the rim.

A competent owner always has in stock not one set of disks, but several. The use of casting is safe and rational only on good and close to ideal roads. In our directions, steel discs dominate, but they are not all the same. It is possible to choose the correct disk for replacement only by knowing its exact parameters. Only then will it guarantee a safe and comfortable ride.

Wheel bolt parameters on the VAZ-2110

Stamped disc 5.0J14 4 × 98 ET35 d58.6 for VAZ-2110.

All VAZ cars are equipped with rims that meet the so-called "Italian" standard.

And this is not at all in vain, if you remember the history of the plant. The disk parameters for the VAZ-2110 are as follows: 5Jx13 PCD4x98 ET35-40 DIA58.6 ... In order not to get lost in symbols and numbers, let's deal with each parameter in order:

  • 5J- means that for VAZ cars of the tenth family, the wheel rim can have a width of 5 inches, while the maximum permissible width is 5.5 inch ;
  • 13 or 14 - disc diameter in inches;
  • PCD 4 × 98- this is the same bolt pattern, which is in no way more important than other parameters of the disk, it says that the disk has 4 holes, the centers of which are located on the diameter 98 mm (Pitch Circle Diameter ), a single parameter for all VAZ cars except Lada 4x4;
  • ET 35-40- the minimum and maximum possible disk overhang, that is, the distance from the geometric center of the disk to the mating plane of the wheel to the hub;
  • DIA 58.6- the diameter of the bore of the disc on the hub, this parameter is the same for all VAZ cars (except for Lada 4x4).

The exact parameters of the rim must be stamped on it.

Wheel selection rules

For "dozens" native disks are 13- or 14-inch with a bolt pattern 4x98, where 4 is the number of holes, 98 is the diameter of the circle on which they are located.

In fact, there is nothing complicated about it. It is not necessary to endanger your life by installing drilled discs even 1 mm more or less than the allowable one. Any rims from Italian and some French cars are perfect for cars of the tenth family. Of course, with the same pattern.

Here are just some of these machines:

Table with a 4x98 bolt pattern.

It should be noted that the new VAZ cars changed the Italian size to French. It happened with the arrival on the conveyor French platform B0 on which Vesta is built, Largus, Xray. They have a drilling parameter of 4x100 mm. Choose the right discs and don't forget about safety!
